There’s something truly magical about the streets of Lisbon. Growing up, these cobblestone paths were more than just a backdrop; they were part of my daily adventures with my father, who’s an artist. We’d wander through the city, him searching for inspiration, and me, just trying to keep up—often with a few extra breaks at the end of the day for some calf massages.
As a child with cerebral palsy, those walks were sometimes a mix of joy and challenge. My legs would ache, and my dad would lovingly rub my calves to ease the discomfort. Even then, there was always laughter and a sense of adventure that made everything worthwhile.
Now, as an adult, I find myself strolling those same streets. While it can still be a bit of a workout, it’s nowhere near as painful as it once was. It’s a testament to how far I’ve come and a reminder that progress is real.
So, here I am, walking through Lisbon with a smile, embracing both the challenges and the triumphs. Because, after all, impossible is impossible, and every step forward is a victory—plus, there’s always room for a bit of humor along the way.
