“Are you the Girl Who Dances?”
One day at work, a friend asked me, completely seriously,
“Are you the Girl Who Dances?”
At first, I was confused.
Me? Dance? I can barely keep rhythm with a microwave timer.
But then I realized—he wasn’t talking about actual dancing.
He was referring to the way I walk because of my cerebral palsy.
And once that clicked… I could not stop laughing.
It was the funniest, most unintentionally brilliant way anyone had ever described my disability.
Since then, I’ve wanted to do what he did:
Show people the light side, the funny side,
The “what-on-earth-did-they-just-say?” side of living with a disability.
Because honestly? If you can’t laugh at it… you’re missing out on some pretty good material.
