At the age of 10, just before starting secondary school, my parents and I met with the headmaster so that he could fully understand my difficulties. From the very beginning, he made me feel welcome with his friendly attitude. He reassured both me and my parents that I would receive all the support I needed.
When I started secondary school that September, I was given more support and attention than I could have ever wished for. I had a special chair, a special table, my own computer to help me keep up with my classmates, and even special scissors. Everything was carefully prepared to make my school life as comfortable as possible.
