We all have problems—some might seem more complicated than others, but at the end of the day, we live our lives as if we are the center of the world. Our problems feel like the biggest, the most difficult to bear. And maybe that’s how it has to be. Because if we don’t try to solve our own problems first, how can we possibly help anyone else?
This concern of mine isn’t necessarily tied to my disability. So many people—regardless of their circumstances—struggle to process their emotions and adapt to the constant changes in the world around them. The past few years have been especially hard. Life shifted in ways we never expected, and for many, it became frightening. Even now, I meet people who are still living in a state of panic, wondering what challenge will come next.
Sometimes, we just need a little nudge—or even a pill—to help point us in the right direction. Talking to professionals is so important. They can help us see things differently, think more clearly, and stay grounded. Our emotions can be powerful, but when they take over completely, it can be dangerous.
I felt the need to speak about this today. It’s a sensitive topic, and I know I haven’t found the perfect way to approach it yet—but I will. What I do know is that writing this made me feel good. I’ve missed it. If even one person reads this and feels understood, then that’s more than I could ever ask for.
