I was born in Cambridge, England and when I was a just couple of weeks old my parents brought my elder sister and me to Portugal. My dad continued to build our home in the traditional village of Figueira, western Algarve. At the age of three my sisters and I started learning Portuguese at *nursery school. We always went to Portuguese schools, so we spend a great amount of talking and thinking in that language, at home mostly returned to speaking English.

Living in Portugal has been great for all the family, we became bilingual, and we live in a beautiful country that is sunny for around 300 days per year. One of the things that I really appreciate about Portugal is how friendly and how accepting the people are.

My dad is a professional artist, he paints a lot about life in Portugal. Our home has always been with his art. My mum never stopped running around making sure we were all well, she a great support and runs most of dad’s exhibitions. All three daughters have followed in arts in one way or other. In my case, I took a degree in art studies and a master’s degree in cultural management.

For many years I thought that having a disability was one of the worse things ever. Now I know that isn’t necessarily true, of0 course there are many disabilities that 3enable people a lot of things. and even independence is hard to accomplish. My case is a very happy one, I’ve been able to live my life and follow my dreams. I’m making it one of my main aims to show people how life can be much easier if we focus on our advances.
